Okinawa Fun!!!

I wanted to add some pictures from a good weekend here in Oki :)
Japanese girls loved us in Naha (the capital city)

This is the capital city Naha.

Yea don't mess with me...this was a gun they used in WWII.

This look like Grandpa Verner's knife.  They said it was a United States Medical Service.

A marine bell.

Part of the underground that the Japanese would use during the war...this said that someone committed suicide with a hand-grenade.

I have a couple more pictures but I will save them for another blog.  I hope you enjoyed some of my weekend plans.  Miss you and love lots.

Okinawa

Hey everyone I just wanted to add some pictures from my weekend thus far :)

Eating at a sushi restaurant with some Camp Adventure people.

This is me laughing at the US drinking age.  That beer was quite refreshing.

Me missing Sofia at the beach.

The water at the beach is so clear you could see through 20 foot deep water.

The clear and kind of cold, but refreshing water.

The beautiful water had different shades of blue.

We went on a banana boat ride which is an inner tube which looks like a hot dog and we road it around as the driver drove us all over the waves.  Definitely the best part of my day!

We also road a boat that had a see through bottom so you could see the fishes and things...I couldn't watch very long because I got a little sea sick.

Me and my Hugh Jackman wolverine body looking out over the beach and rocks in the back.

You can probably tell that we spent most of our time at the beach this weekend which is called Okuma.  It was the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.  The weather was perfect and we had a lot of fun.
Love lots,
Jake

Okinawa

Ohayo gozaimaso :)
I wanted to show you a couple pictures of around the base.  Enjoy!

The movie theater

The post office...R2D2 is the actual mail drop off.

A random street with houses.

On the highest hill on camp...the background is the ocean.

The barracks across from ours...the marines are lining up for a meeting.

This green flag symbolizes that it's nice enough to go outside and the hot weather won't kill us.  The worst color is black and that means we can be outside for no more than 15 minutes.

This is the gym where I go to talk on the internet and work out from time to time.

This is the place where I am staying for the summer.

I will try and add some others from time to time from around base.  These are just the important ones that I have.

Love lots,
Jake

Camp Adventure

OH YEA!
I won the most creative costume for Okinawa Camp Adventure.  I was pretty excited...I won a couple balls that I can add to my stuff for the kids to play with.  I was Slinky from Toy Story.  The wire is the hardest thing to put around myself.  It just doesn't want to come uncoiled.  And I can't forget my embarrassing Camp Adventure uniform...Enjoy :)

Camp Adventure

Hi everyone,
I just wanted to show off my artistic skills.  We had to make pictures of our fish names...I am Mr. Mahi.

Okinawa

Hello everyone!
I have been quite busy the last couple of days relaxing and visiting places around the base and trying out the food.  I have had the sushi which was pretty good and I also have had curry (it's like a meat and rice and gravy, but the gravy is spicy and you can decide how spicy you want it).  I have been to the beaches and they are pretty neat especially when the tide starts to get higher and higher.  We have been having quite a bit of meetings for our camp and just going over some rules.  Posters have been crucial for the last couple days so we have some decorations for the kids.  I will put some pictures of some of the posters I have made for the 4th of July theme week.  There is a battle site tour that we can take that I just learned about and I am excited to take that.  It will just take us to all the different places and then Peace Memorial Park.  I haven't gotten burnt yet but tons of people are red...they didn't have a mom like mine that reminds me to keep reapplying :).  I hope everyone is doing okay, the weather is about the same here and it rains every now and again but not too heavily.  Monday we start working with our kids so I am excited for that to come.  Love you all.

Camp Adventure

Hi everyone!
The first couple days on the base have been very informational.  We have been able to go off base once already and that was very fun.  I had my first actual Japanese meal and it wasn't that bad.  The seaweed I thought had to be the most interesting, but still very good.  The weather here is terribly humid.  People usually take around two showers a day because we sweat so much just walking around.  The people here are very nice.  Somebody from Japan came to talk to us about the island and to inform us on a couple things.  I found that to be the most interesting thus far.  She talked about how they don't show emotions to one another they hide them on the inside.  She talked about proper ways to look at someone and some phrases.  They just have many different things to what I am use to in our culture.  Other than that we have been able to get some camp stuff done and I am looking forward to go to my camp.

We are suppose to have nicknames for our camp and we picked the fish category...so I am Mr. Mahi :)

These are just some pictures from the first couple days.  Love you all and I hope everything is going well.
